Earth Tech Inc., a business unit of Tyco International Ltd., was awarded a $3 million contract to plan, design and prepare construction documents for the Central Station at the Miami Intermodal Center (MIC). The facility will consolidate Tri-Rail and Amtrak passenger services and accommodate a potential Florida high-speed rail terminus. The Central Station connects to a Metro Rail station, airport Automated People Mover and consolidated rental car center lobby, and features an elevated pedestrian concourse that links travelers to a ground transportation center. Earth Tech will also provide landscape, security, signage and roadway improvements design for the 27-acre site. The Center was one of the first projects to receive financing under Transportation Infrastructure Funding Innovative Finance Act as part of the Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century.
