Governor Phil Murphy nominated Kevin S. Corbett to serve as the executive director of NJ Transit.
Corbett currently serves as VP of Cross Services at global transportation and infrastructure company, AECOM. At AECOM, Corbett has had an oversight role on critical projects including Amtrak’s Gateway Project, the first phase of New York City’s Second Avenue Subway project, work on New York Penn Station, and PATH restoration after Superstorm Sandy.
Last week, Governor Murphy signed an Executive Order mandating an audit of NJ Transit to determine inefficiencies and areas where the agency can improve. As Executive Director, Corbett will help implement these recommendations and rework the agency’s finances, leadership structure, customer experience, and safety measures.
Before joining AECOM, Corbett served as the COO and exec. VP of Empire State Development Corp. and exec. dep. commissioner of the Department of Economic Development. In those roles, Corbett was responsible for New York State’s economic development programs and projects, including the redevelopment of Times Square, Moynihan Station, and the creation of Brooklyn Bridge Park. After September 11th, 2001, Corbett oversaw the economic recovery of Lower Manhattan.
