With an estimated final cost of $2.63 billion, the Spadina subway extension, which will be the first to reach beyond the City of Toronto limits and add six more stations to the route, is the largest transit expansion project to be undertaken by the TTC. It will link neighboring communities in York Region and feature a station at York University.
The initiative was sponsored by three levels of government: the Government of Canada, the Province of Ontario and the City of Toronto/York Region. The project is expected to begin in April 2008 and is expected to be completed by 2015.
