HONOLULU — With more than a decade of work on Honolulu’s light rail line already put in, state lawmakers are convening in a special session on Monday to find a way to fill a $3 billion budget shortfall, Fox Business reports.
Legislative leaders have tentatively agreed to a bill, but it is unclear whether or not it will pass. If no solution is found by Sept. 15, the federal government could demand that Honolulu return more than $800 million it has already spent and withhold the rest of a promised $1.5 billion funding package.
