MARTA increases security following Moscow subway attacks
MPD is in regular communication with DHS, the Transportation Security Administration, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Joint Terrorism Task Force.
Following terrorist attacks that occurred in two Moscow subway stations on Monday, the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority Police Department (MPD) heightened security measures throughout the system, increasing police presence and patrols.
While there are currently no credible threats to transit systems in the U.S. according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), MPD is operating on heightened alert to ensure the utmost security of the system, according to a statement.
MPD is in regular communication with DHS, the Transportation Security Administration, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Joint Terrorism Task Force.
