Md. gubernatorial candidate advocates for high-speed rail
If elected, Maryland State Attorney General Doug Gansler will form a task force to develop recommendations on high-speed rail from Baltimore to Washington, D.C., saying that the commuting option would encourage more families to move to Baltimore.
BALTIMORE — Maryland State Attorney General Doug Gansler, the Democratic candidate for governor, said that if he is elected he’ll form a task force to develop recommendations on high-speed rail from Baltimore to Washington, D.C., campaign spokeswoman Katie Hill told the AP.
Gansler said at a candidate forum that high-speed rail would encourage more families to move to Baltimore by giving them a quick, simple commuting option.
According to the AP, the Japanese government has offered to finance half the cost of a Washington-Baltimore line through a public bank as the first segment of a line extending to New York. For the full story, click here.
