MISSOULA, Mont. — Mountain Line officials announced that the public transit system will continue its Zero Fare program for another three years, with partner agencies all agreeing to extend support, reported KPAX.com.
The decision comes after strong support has been shown for Zero Fare — which has given a dramatic, 60% increase in ridership, the report said.
Mountain Line reached out to community organizations to obtain the necessary funding to transition to a fareless system, which was developed to bolster ridership and sustainability.

The region’s fixed-route system finished out the year with a total of 373.5 million rides. Adding 12.3 million rides over 2024 represents an increase that is equal to the annual transit ridership of Kansas City.
