New Flyer to equip Columbia, S.C. fleet with 75 Xcelsior buses — New Flyer

The Comet, formerly known as the Central Midlands Regional Transit Authority (CMRTA) located in Columbia, S.C., has awarded New Flyer a contract for up to 75 Xcelsior® heavy-duty transit buses.

The five-year contract includes a firm order for eight Xcelsior clean diesel 35-foot buses with options to purchase an additional 67 35-foot Xcelsior buses powered by either clean diesel or compressed natural gas.

"New Flyer has previously delivered buses to CMRTA, and we are thrilled to provide the quality and dependability of our Xcelsior model for the first time in Columbia."

New Flyer is North America offers the broadest transit bus product line (Xcelsior® and MiDi® models), incorporating the broadest range of drive systems available, including: clean diesel, natural gas, diesel-electric hybrid, electric-trolley and now battery-electric. The company actively supports over 42,000 heavy-duty transit buses (New Flyer, NABI and Orion) currently in service.
