NJ Transit adding trains to ease overcrowding following Hoboken crash

HOBOKEN, N.J. — After several days of complaints about standing-room only trains following last week’s NJ Transit train crash in the Hoboken Terminal, agency officials announced they are adding trains during peak periods, NJ Advance Media reports.

NJ Transit officials said they will monitor overcrowding on the Main, Bergen, Port Jervis, and Pascack Valley lines and will deploy "additional capacity, when available, in selected areas" to relieve overcrowding. Extra service will operate on select NJ Transit bus routes which run parallel to Main/Bergen and Pascack Valley rail lines.

NJ Transit officials advised commuters to still purchase tickets and passes to and from Hoboken, so they will be cross honored by other modes and carriers. For the full story, click here.
