The National Transit Institute (NTI) at Rutgers will distribute a CD-ROM, which contains training recommendations for supervisory personnel in transit operations and maintenance. The training recommendations, which will be distributed to the transit industry this month, are the result of a training needs assessment of transit operations and maintenance supervisors linked to core competencies. This project was the result of the transit industry's need for supervisory training, which contains a transit context and applicability. Eight transit agencies of various sizes participated in the study by supplying their core competencies for the targeted supervisory positions. Although core competencies for supervisory training are in place at a number of transit properties, the goal of this needs assessment is to utilize them nationwide in the development and training of supervisors.
