Passenger trains to serve St. Paul, Minn. for first time in 40 years

ST. PAUL, Minn. — For the first time in more than 40 years, passenger trains will arrive and depart from downtown St. Paul starting next month, reported the StarTribune.
Amtrak announced Wednesday that it will move its Twin Cities service from the Midway area to the newly-renovated Union Depot on May 7, making it the latest transit entity to move to the historic train station that reopened more than a year ago, according to the report.

The beautifully renovated Union Depot, originally built in the 1920s, was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974 and LEED®
Gold certified in 2014.
Ramsey County Regional Railroad Authority owns Union Depot, which will offer a full complement of transportation services: Amtrak, Green Line light rail, Jefferson Lines, Greyhound, megabus.com, Metro Transit and MVTA buses and a bike center including a storage facility.
