Bus and trolley mechanics at the Port Authority of Allegheny County in Pittsburgh are refusing to work overtime, possibly causing cuts in bus and rail service. The mechanics are protesting the recent layoffs of 47 coworkers due to budget cuts. Port Authority CEO Paul Skoutelas told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that supervisors are having to fill in for union maintenance employees. "If the trend continues, it calls into question our ability to maintain the fleet properly and provide sufficient service to meet schedules," Skoutelas told the newspaper.
