WASHINGTON, D.C. — Rep. John Mica, R-Fla. unveiled a six-year transportation reauthorization bill Thursday that calls for spending $230 billion, well below the White House request of $556 billion, and reflects the plans for deep federal spending cuts crafted by House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan, R-Wis., the Miami Herald reported.
Mica’s proposed spending level would cause cuts in funding to states for road and bridge programs. Critics have warned of massive job losses and further deterioration of U.S. infrastructure if the measure is enacted. For the full story, click here.
