SunLine Transit buys hydrogen fuel system
Agency continues to make strides toward alternative-fuel buses.
SunLine Transit Agency has chosen Chicago-based HyRadix Inc. to supply an on-site hydrogen fuel generation system, which they hope will contribute to the expansion of its hydrogen bus fleet over the next couple of years. Starting in 2000, SunLine has demonstrated three versions of heavy-duty hydrogen hybrid fuel-cell buses in an attempt to champion alternative-fuel transportation. The Adeo on-site hydrogen generation system will be based at SunLine’s Thousand Palms, Calif., facility and will be maintained for six years by HyRadix. “The commercial demand for hydrogen as a fuel will continue to rise due to its many benefits, and SunLine is proud to be at the forefront of using alternative fuels which provide economic and environmental benefits throughout this region,” said Mikel Ogelsby, SunLine’s GM.
