Suspect pleads guilty to Amtrak bomb threats
Mass evacuation after threats cost rail company about $100,000 in lost revenues.
A man charged with making bomb threats that forced the evacuation of a Chicago-bound Amtrak train last month pleaded guilty in federal court.
According to the Associated Press, Michael D. Conwill was indicted for calling several law enforcement agencies on July 6 and telling them there was a bomb onboard a train heading to Chicago.
He faces up to 10 years in prison, $250,000 in fines, three years of probation and restitution.
Nearly 300 passengers and crew members were evacuated in the incident, and Amtrak officials said the delay cost the company $100,000.
