SAN FRANCISCO — A study, commissioned by the Bay Citizen and conducted by the San Francisco State University's biology lab recently tested the bacterial content of a random Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) seat and a San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (Muni) seat, KTVU2 reports.
While only two forms of harmless bacteria were detected on Muni’s seats, the cloth seats on BART were found to harbor fecal and skin borne bacteria that were resistant to antibiotics. The test also found at least nine different strains of bacteria and several types of mold on the seat. For the full story, click here.
