UTA employs two contractors to build rail line
Stacy and Whitbeck, of San Francisco, and St. Joseph, Mo.-based Herzog will work together to build commuter rail line.
The Utah Transit Authority (UTA) hired two contractors that will partner to build the first phase of a 40-mile commuter rail line that will run from just north of Ogden, Utah, to downtown Salt Lake City.
San Francisco-based Stacy and Witbeck, and Herzog Contracting of St. Joseph, Mo., will operate together under the name Commuter Rail Constructors to build the commuter line.
UTA's next step will be to choose a design firm to work with Commuter Rail Constructors on design details and other issues.
Pre-construction will start by mid-March, with the rail line scheduled to be fully operational by the end of 2007.
