Valley Metro Rail served 127,393 riders as they traveled to Games 3, 4, and 5 of the World Series in downtown Phoenix Oct. 30-Nov.1, marking a 40% increase of average daily ridership, according to the agency's news release.
Monday, Oct. 30: 40,340 rides
Tuesday, Oct. 31: 46,253 rides
Wednesday, Nov. 1: 40,800 rides
“The strong ridership numbers not only reflect our team’s ability to deliver when it matters most, but it also underscores the critical role public transit plays in getting residents and visitors to and from major events,” said Jessica Mefford-Miller, Valley Metro CEO.
Valley Metro’s mobile app saw the highest three days of mobile fare scans on light rail since launching it in February. The app also saw a 155% increase in new app users compared to the previous week.
