Wharton most recently served as president of a manufacturer of specialty transit equipment for the international transit electrification industry. Prior to that, he held executive management roles for a nationwide construction firm that specializes in mass transit and energy.
Wharton is an executive committee member on the American Public Transportation Association Board of Directors, director on the American Public Transportation Foundation, and member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. He has 39 years of experience.
The region’s fixed-route system finished out the year with a total of 373.5 million rides. Adding 12.3 million rides over 2024 represents an increase that is equal to the annual transit ridership of Kansas City.
