TRC Celebrates CDTA’s Launch of On-Demand Service

The Routing Company (TRC) celebrated the official launch of FLEX+ on-demand transit service with the Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) in Albany, New York

CDTA is a regional mobility provider, providing mobility solutions that connect the region’s communities. 

The new service started on Jan. 29 and provides riders with affordable and convenient transit-initiated transit service between downtown Albany and the Joseph L. Bruno Rail Station (formerly the Rensselaer Rail Station).

Wabtec Awarded $157M Brake System Order

Wabtec Corporation announced a brake system order from the Mobility Business of Siemens India Private Limited for the 9000HP locomotive project for Indian Railways. 

The $157 million order will provide improved operating performance, efficiency, and safety with the latest technology for the new line of 1,200 electric locomotives.

“Siemens is firmly committed to transform rail and mobilize India with cutting-edge technologies and solutions. We are excited about our partnership with Wabtec, who also shares a similar vision of creating a green and world-class railway network,” said Gunjan Vakharia, head of Mobility Business, Siemens Limited.

The order has Wabtec supplying Siemens with brake systems from Wabtec’s Hosur plant for 11 years and maintenance services for 35 years. Siemens will assemble the locomotives at the Indian Railways factory in Dahod, in the state of Gujarat, India.

Balfour Beatty Awarded SMART Contract 

Balfour Beatty announced it has been awarded a $189,000 contract on behalf of Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART) to deliver track surfacing, lining, and ballast restoration on its mainline track. 

Once complete, the approximately 40,000-foot restoration project enhances SMART’s passenger rail service to provide sustainable, accessible, and efficient rail transportation for Sonoma and Marin counties.

Balfour Beatty will leverage its team of leading industry experts dedicated to operational excellence and safety as we achieve our client’s goal of enhancing sustainability and reliability of its rail network within communities.”
