The AC Transit board of directors has appointed Kathleen Kelly as the agency’s interim GM. Kelly, who formerly served as AC Transit’s chief of operations, will serve in that capacity while the Board conducts a national search for a permanent general manager.

Kelly’s appointment will take effect on Monday April 13th. She will take over the duties of David Armijo who resigned as the agency’s CEO on  March 26th.

In addition to Chief of Operations, Kelly also formerly served in two other capacities at AC Transit, alternately as Planning Director and Budget Director.

“We are very lucky to get such an experienced and well-respected transit professional who already knows most of the people who work for this agency,’’ said AC Transit Board President Chris Peeples.

Kelly is expected to serve as the agency’s interim GM for approximately six months while assisting the Board and its executive search firm in finding a new, permanent general manager.
