ORLANDO, Fla. — Lynx CEO John Lewis, who is departing the Orlando-based regional bus service on Aug. 31 to run the Charlotte Area Transit System, will be replaced on an interim basis with Lynx GM Susan Black, the Orlando Sentinel reported.
The Lynx board, which estimated finding a replacement could take 90 days, said it has no interest in bringing in a private manager to run the system, which operates in Orange, Seminole and Osceola counties, the report said.
U.S. Rep. John Mica, R-Winter Park, last week said this is the perfect time to partly privatize Lynx because Lewis is leaving. Mica made a similar suggestion before Lewis was hired in December 2010. The board ignored Mica's request, according to the Sentinel.
