CHICAGO — Two state representatives are pressing Metra's board to explain why it approved a severance agreement that could pay former CEO Alex Clifford as much as $740,000, according to the Chicago Tribune. For the full story, click here.
Regional Transportation Authority Chairman John S. Gates Jr. also called for a review of Metra’s agreement with Clifford.
“This week, I directed the RTA staff to immediately begin a detailed review of the recent Separation Agreement reached between Metra and its former CEO, Alex Clifford. I want our staff to determine whether the agreement is financially prudent,” Gates Jr. said in a statement.
“While Metra is responsible for decisions regarding the staffing of its agency, the RTA has a duty and obligation to ensure that taxpayer dollars are being expended properly,” he added.
