OAKLAND, Calif. — Reuters reports that the Bay Area Rapid Transit District’s (BART) approved the “one ticket, one seat” rule, which will impose a $100 fine on commuter train riders who use seating space for something other than sitting.
BART’s new rule, which ups the fine to $200 for a second violation within one year and $500 for each additional violation within five years, mirrors similar campaigns launched by transit agencies in New York, Philadelphia and Seattle with slogans such as "Two seats? Really?" and "Dude ... Stop The Spread. Please."
