Metrolinx, an agency of the Government of Ontario, Canada, which manages and integrates regional transportation planning in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area, selected CH2M for its Next Wave Rapid Transit (RT) Projects — Consultant Services for Program Management Services contract.
Building on the success of the First Wave of RT projects — York Viva Bus Rapid Transit, Eglinton Light Rail Transit (LRT) and Finch West LRT — Metrolinx plans to extend transit service to neighbouring municipalities and regional areas outside the City of Toronto with the Next Wave projects. These include the Hurontario LRT, Hamilton LRT, GO Bus infrastructure improvements and other rapid transit projects to be determined.
CH2M served as the owner's engineer and program manager for the projects in the First Wave, the largest public transit investment in Canadian history, and will provide continuity of service with proven, repeatable processes, procedures and tools for the Next Wave projects. Additional team members under the contract include Boxfish Group, Comtech Group, and Turner & Townsend.
