The board of Florida’s Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) unanimously approved a six-month fare modification pilot program beginning on February 1, 2026, that will reduce fares by 43% on its fixed-route bus system and 50% on its paratransit service. 

“This fare decrease pilot reflects our commitment to putting our community first,” said JTA CEO Nat Ford. “By lowering fares, we’re removing barriers to mobility and making it easier for people across Jacksonville to access jobs, education, healthcare, and opportunity.” 

Additional Advantages for Riders

As part of the pilot program, the JTA board also approved making Neighborhood Autonomous Vehicle Innovation (NAVI) service complimentary, effective December 15. 

During a board meeting, it was announced that the JTA will hold a series of public input meetings to discuss the state of its services, including new fleet vehicles, route enhancements, updates on current services, and to gather community input. 

The JTA public input meetings will be held throughout January.
