New Propane Autogas Fueling Facility Launched in Virginia
Virginia’s clean transportation network took a step forward as leaders from across the state gathered to celebrate the opening of a new propane autogas refueling station near Richmond International Airport, provided by Alliance AutoGas.
The 1,990-gallon tank and dispenser will deliver a reliable, cost-effective refueling option, serving local fleets, including Henrico County Schools’ propane-powered school buses and Park ‘N Go’s airport shuttle vehicles.
The station’s opening reflects Virginia’s movement toward clean energy technologies. In 2024, the state awarded a contract to fuel its public fleets with propane and renewable propane, a low-carbon alternative made from sustainable sources. The new contract provides school districts, transit systems, and government fleets access to favorable pricing and long-term stability.
The refueling site is expected to support future growth as more organizations in the region explore affordable and reliable alternative fuels.
Instacart, TriMet Announce Partnership Results
Portland, Oregon’s TriMet and Instacart announced strong results from a first-of-its-kind pilot giving eligible paratransit riders Instacart+ memberships to order groceries and essentials for home delivery.
Launched in March 2024, the program provides older adults and individuals with disabilities greater independence and convenience while helping TriMet reduce costs and improve service efficiency.
More than 280 riders participated, placing nearly 4,000 orders — most including fresh food and household items —with 90% opting in and giving high satisfaction ratings. The pilot saved the agency over $350,000 in its first six months and could generate up to $4.5 million in annual savings if expanded systemwide.
